John Robert Hughes lived in Red Road and was the grandfather of Roy, the father of Jaqueline, my wife. Roy was brought up by John Robert.

There were three more children - Lee, Eddie (twins) and Nora. Roy's father died when Roy was 6 or 7 and the four children were brought up by their mother and grandfather, John Robert.

The view is towards Pentre Lane from the top by the Middle Common. The gateway to the right of the people is the site of the recently demolished houses. It was on the market for sale in July 2014.
