18 August 2013
On Sunday 18th August 2013, the Buckley Town Council organised its second fun day for Buckley people, following the success of the Queen's Jubilee event of 2012. The theme was "Blackpool comes to Buckley"; there were donkey rides, a shire horse-drawn carriage, a fair, Punch and Judy, community and information stalls, live music, a display of vintage vehicles and a sand pit containing two tonnes of sand for the children which proved very popular.
The event had been organised by popular demand and the council stated that they hoped to stage similar events annually. The feedback from some of the thousands who attended was very positive.
In addition, it was later announced that the Council were to organise a huge firework display on the Higher Common on November 5th. The new town centre manager, Andy White, said: We're organising a huge firework display, the like of which has never been seen before in Buckley. The fireworks will be new and enormous, there will be music, a stage, fire eaters - it's going to be huge."
