The following is taken from an unknown newspaper. (D-Day was 6th June 1944)
Sapper Frank Keighley, R.E., son of Mrs Keighley, 192, Mold Road, has been mentioned in despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service and brave conduct on March 22nd this year in Europe, and for which he has been awarded the Oak Leaves. His father, who died in 1929, was awarded the same Oak Leaf emblem in 1918, when he was mentioned in despatches in the first Great War. Sapper Keighley has been in the Army five years. He is 24 years of age and went out on D-Day. Before joining the Forces he worked in the laboratory at the Rustproof Works, Saltney.
