Buckley Searchlight with Bob Smith"

Buckley

1920

This photo was donated in its frame.

My father-in-law was Alec Gittins, Cross Tree Cottage, who was assistant groom at the Stud Farm. The farm was owned by Lord Kenyon who subsequently moved to Ireland. The head groom was Bob Smith, here with the horse, who was the landlord of the Black Horse. The horses came from the Stud Farm and used to take people to the railway station.

(Buckley Searchlight was a trotter c. 1920 - 25. According to the website: www.allbreedpedigree.com, he was born in 1914. He was mated with Tissington Sleet to produce Buckley Sunlight. See the web site for further details. ed.)
