SUDDEN DEATH OF MR PAUL IBALL

LOSS TO BUCKLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

LARGE ATTENDANCE AT FUNERAL

We regret to record the sudden death of Mr. Paul lball, Baptist View, Buckley, which occurred on Sunday. He was talking to his son-in-law at the back of his house when he collapsed; Mr. Iball was carried into the house, but died without regaining consciousness.

Mr. Iball who was 77, was predeceased by his wife two years ago. He was one of the oldest members of the Loyal Perseverance Lodge of Druids' Friendly Society. He was the oldest nurseryman in Buckley.

Mr. lball was a prominent member of the Baptist Church and had taken a leading part in church work. He had been associated with the cause for many years and had held every office in the church and Sunday school. He was the senior deacon. Mr. Iball was universally respected.

The funeral on Wednesday was largely attended. A service was held at the Baptist Church. The Rev. J. H. McKeracher of Old Colwyn, a former pastor, officiated. Mr. Jas. Downey was at the organ, and as the cortege entered the church played "O rest in the Lord." The hymns were "The Captain calls His servant home" and" Now the labourer's task is o'er." At the conclusion of the service Mr. Downey played Handel's "Largo." The Rev. J. H. McKeracher and the Rev. R. T. Morgan, of Chester, paid tributes to the noble character, loyalty, and devoted work which Mr. Iball had contributed. Both ministers officiated at the graveside in Buckley cemetery.

An account of Mrs Iball's funeral in 1932 states:

She had been in business with her husband for many years. She was the oldest lady member of the Baptist Church, where she had been a member and enthusiastic worker since it was built over forty years ago. .... Mr Iball has a bible which was presented to him and his wife at their marriage at St. John's Church, Pentrobin, theirs being the first marriage to take place in that church. She was the mother of ten sons and daughters, all of whom are married.....The minister, during is address, paid a high tribute to the noble character, fine christian example, and fragrant memory of a good mother and church worker, who would be greatly missed at this church and in her home.
