MARRIAGES
Newton - Carver. - At St. Kentigern's Church, Aspatria, on the 9th inst., by the Rev. F. L. H. Millard, Leonard, second son of James Newton, of Buckley, Chester, and formerly of Whitehaven to Caroline (Carrie) eldest daughter of Mrs. Frear, Station Hotel, Aspatria.
INTERESTING WEDDING AT ASPATRIA
On Wednesday a pretty wedding and one that created a great deal of interest was celebrated at St. Kentigern's Church, Aspatria, when Caroline, eldest daughter of Mrs. William Frear, Station Hotel, Aspatria, was married to Mr. Leonard Newton, manager of the Bradford Colliery, Manchester, second son of Mr. James Newton, Buckley , near Chester. The bride looked charming in a dress of white silk crepe-de-chine with large white chiffon hat. She carried a bouquet of lilies and wore a gold pendant and diamond ring the gifts of the bridegroom. She was given away by her stepfather, Mr. W. Frear. The bridesmaids were Miss Clara Frear, step-sister of the bride, and Miss Wilson, Hayton House, who wore dresses of white silk with green sashes and black velvet picture hats. The carried shower bouquets of pink roses and wore gold opal brooches presented by the bridegroom. The Rev. F. L. H. Millard conducted the service at the close of which he addressed the happy pair. Miss Cobb, the organist, played appropriate music as the bridal party entered the church and Mendelssohn's wedding march as they proceeded to the vestry. Leaving the church amidst showers of confetti, the party proceeded to the residence of the bride's parents where an excellent breakfast was partaken of. Later in the afternoon the happy couple left for London where the honeymoon will be spent. The numerous and costly presents on view showed that the young couple have many well-wishers.
WEDDING AT ASPATRIA
A very pretty wedding took place, in the Aspatria Parish Church at noon on Wednesday last. The parties were Miss Caroline Carver, Aspatria and Mr. Leonard Newton of Manchester, son of Mr. Newton, engineer, who was once a resident in Whitehaven. A good number of well-wishers assembled to witness the ceremony, which was performed by the Vicar, The Rev. F. L. H. Millard. Miss Cobb played suitable selections on the organ. The groomsman's brother acted as best man, while the bride was attended by Miss Wilson, Hayton House, and her sister Miss Frear as bridesmaids. Mr. Wm. Frear, Station Hotel, the bride's step-father gave her away, and at his house a number of friends were afterwards entertained to luncheon. The married couple afterwards left by train for London, where the honeymoon will be spent. The presents were numerous and mostly of a valuable and useful description.
