Mr H. E. Rowlands going to Mold

Mr H. E. Rowlands, musical director of the Palace Cinema, terminated his engagement there last week-end having obtained the post of musical director of the new Savoy Cinema, Mold. Mr Rowlands, who is a native of Buckley, has done much to improve the standard of music in the town. He was instrumental in forming The Buckley Salon Orchestra, of which he is a conductor. He is a brilliant violinist, and has also composed several pieces. He is also a clever orchestral arranger, and has just completed his "Moments of Melody" (No. 2). His "Moments of Melody" (No. 1) was the outstanding feature of his last orchestral concert.

AND ANOTHER:

End of the Savoy Orchestra

The the changes at the Savoy consequent to the installation of "talkies" will result in the break-up of the orchestra which had for so long delighted the patrons of this popular picture-house. Their final appearance will be on Saturday night next, where they will play together for the last time. H.E. Rowlands, the popular leader, is taking up an appointment in Derbyshire, but hopes to return to the musical profession at no very distant date. He is an accomplished violinist whose choice selections were always highly appreciated. He was largely instrumental in the formation of the Mold Symphony Orchestra, of which he was the first conductor. Highly esteemed in the district, Mr Rowlands has done much good work for various charitable efforts and was always willing to lend his aid to any good cause not only in Mold but in various parts of the county.
