SUNDAY CONCERT
The Tivoli Theatre was crowded with an audience of 1,200 on Sunday night for the sacred concert arranged by the Buckley Amateur Pantomime Company's producer (Mr. Dennis Griffiths) for the benefit of Chester Royal Infirmary. The soloists were members of the pantomime company, and four of the town's leading musical institutions were also represented in the programme. They were the Buckley Royal Town Band (under Mr. J. J. Griffiths), Buckley Male Voice Choir (conductor, Mr. Glyn Williams), Buckley Glee Party (Mr. H. Phillips), and the pantomime company's orchestra (conducted by Mr. Dennis Griffiths, with Mr. Elvet Rowlands as leader). The chairman (Dr. Fraser) said he was delighted to see such a splendid audience supporting Chester Royal Infirmary. Buckley used the Infirmary as much as any place, and it supported the infirmary splendidly. He was pleased to learn that already Buckley Pantomime Company had sent up £128 to the Royal Infirmary, Chester, but they wanted to make it up to £150 and that was why they had organised that concert. A collection taken realised £13. The accompanists were Miss H. Griffiths, A.L.C.M., and Mr. A. Ffoulkes. At the close, Mr. W. Hanaby (chairman of the pantomime company) proposed a vote of thanks to Dr. Fraser for presiding, and to the artistes, soloists, producer, and Mr. R. Rowlands (the proprietor of the Tivoli). Mr. H. F. Beavan (hon. Secretary of the company) seconded.
