A final glimpse of the tools used to put the final touched to the garden before the official party arrived.
The work had been carried out by Wright Landscapes Ltd, Northop over nine months at a cost of £20,000. Five weeks of preparation had taken place in the Celyn College grounds. The wildlife corner had been planted with three buddleia, hawthorn, and philadelphus to provide berries and nectar for birds and butterflies.
The footpaths had been relaid and the whole garden replanted. There was extensive rose planting with a mixture of red, white and blue in the borders across the front to reflect the original colour scheme. Climbers had been planted along the back wall. Litter bins, seating and fencing had been installed; the walls and copings had been repointed. Some of the trees remained and some added.
It was intended that the garden should be open 9 - 5.30 in Spring and will stay open later throughout the summer months. It was hoped that by locking the gates daily, vandalism would be reduced and discouraged. As a piece of Buckley's heritage, it was felt that the people of Buckley would value the garden and help to look after it.
