BUCKLEY TOWN F.C. 43 YEARS AGO

 

This picture is of the Buckley Town Football Club, who played on the Buckley cricket ground when they were members of the old Wirral League. The photo was taken in 1895.

 

The names of the officials and players are as follows:-

 

Standing (left to right): 1, the late Thomas Lindop, C.C., The late Samuel Jones, the late William Catherall, the late William Beavan, Sidney Gregory (Rhuddlan), Ned Lewin (goalkeeper), the late Dr. Powell Hudsmith, Mark Lewin (left full back), Lawrence Beavan (Buckley Foundry), the late John Bennett, Gordon Powell, Buckley (the oldest official referee in North Wales).

 

Middle Row (left to right):- Peter Hayman (Chester), Henry Griffiths (Connah's Quay), Charles Beavan (Padeswood).

 

Front (left to right) - R. Lightfoot (Chester), J. Griffiths (Chester), R. Brett, the late John Shaw, and H. Millington (Chester).
