Buckley Wanderers play Oakenholt St. David's Football Club away"

Halkyn Road Football Ground, Holywell

30 April 1949

From the Programme's "Casual Notes":

Their opponents tonight, Buckley Wanderers, are a formidable combination who also possess a very impressive record. Cup-fighting is one of their strong qualities, and their trail of victories in the Welsh Amateur Cup is still fresh in our memories. After accounting for such powerful opposition as Pwllheli and District, Portmadoc and Lovell's Athletic, they passed out of the Cup in the semi-final stage, when they were beaten by Llay United before a record crowd at Flint.

Buckley, too, will be all out to go one better than last season, when they were beaten in the Final by Connah's Quay Juniors by three goals to one, after a great game.

The book form tells us that Buckley and Oakenholt have met on four occasions this season, and each team have two victories to their credit. It is therefore fitting that the tussle for supremacy between these two clubs should take place in the form of the Callenge Cup final.
