MR JOSEPH EVANS

 

Born in Penrhyndeudraeth in 1894

 

Aged between 20 and 24 years when in the 1914-18 war he went over to France. He served in the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

 

The family moved to the Wrexham area and Mr Evans was employed at Llay Main Colliery during his working life.

 

He later met and married Jane Messham of Buckley and they lived in Buckley and had two sons, Ronald, born 1923 and Cyril, born 1925, and two grandchildren, David and Lynne.

 

Mr Evans died in 1958 aged 64.

Mrs Evans died in 1992 aged 90.

Both are buried at St. Matthew's, Buckley.

 

Mr Evans had three brothers and one sister.

 

His brother, Sam, was a professor of Economics at Glasgow University.
