APRIL 65
GARDEN FETE, 1965
The numerous preparations in connection with the Fete are proceeding smoothly and quietly. Everyone connected with these preparations appear to be determined to break all records, and I am sure that with your continued co-operation their efforts will be completely justified.
You will no doubt be very pleased to learn that Alderman Dennis Griffiths, J.P., has gladly accepted our invitation to perform the Opening Ceremony. Alderman Griffiths will be accompanied by Mrs. Griffiths. We sincerely hope that they will enjoy their afternoon with us at Bistre.
Mr. Kenneth Hibbert, B.A., the Headmaster of the Aston County Secondary School, has kindly agreed to his Gymnastic Group trained by Mr. N. Gratton, the P.E. Teacher, to come along and proved us with a display.
If anyone feels that they would like to help with the preparations, please inform the Church Wardens or myself, you will be made very welcome and your help will be greatly appreciated.
May I remind you that the Fete will be held on Saturday, the 19th June, at 3 p.m.
FRANK V. ELLIS Hon Sec.
The Vicar would like to add that he's very grateful to Alderman Dennis Griffiths for accepting our invitation to open our Garden Fete. This year, the same as last year, we have been very fortunate to have a Buckley "born and bred" gentleman. I am quite sure we shall enjoy his company, and that of his dear wife, as much as we did Mr. and Mrs. Horace Beavan. I do hope the weather will be favourable for the occasion so that Mr. and Mrs. Griffiths will have the opportunity of sharing in the refreshing environment that is to be felt on the Vicarage Lawn on Garden Fete Day. Alderman Dennis Griffiths is so renowned in Flintshire that I feel I would only be reiterating what is well known to you if I started to enumerate the good things he has done and the influence of his personality on the people of Buckley.
We shall be looking forward to meeting them at our Garden Fete on 19th June.
