My darling Sis,

Just a few lines in answer to your most welcome letter which I received on Thursday. I hope this finds you in the best of health as it leaves me in the pink at present. Well Maud I thank you very much for the handkerchiefs you sent me. I think they are very nice. I don't expect I shall be long before I come home now as we are passing out bayonet fighting next week and then we are trained men. We will get 7 days leave and 5 I will have on my own will be 12 but don't tell them at home. I had a letter from Lily Kirk last week and I was very surprised to receive it too. Well Maud we might as well be home as here for what we are doing anyway we are simply passing our time away here now. If you would like to send me a few stamps I will write to Dick because you know I don't have much time at night as I am off out at 6 o'clock every night if I am not on guard and then of course that spoils it. We are having some nice weather now but you never know how long it will last in this place. Dear Maud I am waiting for leave now and I will be glad to see you all again. Well I don't think I have any more to tell you this time. But I will try and write a longer letter next time as I will conclude with my fondest regards and best love hoping to hear from you soon.

Your affect. Brother

Harry XXXXXX

Remember me to Dick and Lily Kirk. Write soon.

H Fox

I will send you a card next week.
