1935
My uncle Sydney started work at Rhosddu on the Great Western locomotives.
This was taken at Heswall Mills Station, on the L.N.E.R., where he then went to work. He then moved east, then to Woodhead Station, Manchester - Sheffield/ Woodhead Tunnell line, L.N.E.R., then British Rail. Then he was transferred to London Transport.
Later he became station master at various stations, including Heswall Hills, moving to Woodhead Tunnel with LNER and then British Rail and finally London Transport - surface stations.
Below is a letter of commendation he received as a result of his quick thinking to avert an accident.
