BUCKLEY TOWN HERITAGE TRAIL MURAL
This mural was created by pupils of Mountain Lane Primary School as part
of a commission to professional ceremic artist Neil Dalrymple. This has
resulted in a unique and vibrant piece of artwork. The mural depicts local
scenes in a three dimensional way and encapsulates the people, varied
landscape and proud industrial history of Buckley.
The Buckley Town Heritage Trail is a project that links the sites of the old
collieries, brickworks and potteries with the town centre and in particular the
library, where a large selection of photographs, documents and artefatcs can
be viewed in the upstairs museum. The project to extend the Heritage Trail
was developed by the Buckley Town Partnership and the work was carried
out by Groundwork (Wrexham and Flintshire) in conjunction with officers
from Buckley Town Council and Flintshire County Council.
The mural was unveiled jointly on 9th May 2011 by The Mayor of Buckley:
Councillor Ian Thomas and The Chairman of Flintshire County Council:
Councillor Owen Thomas.
The Buckley Town Heritage Trail leaflet can be obtained, free of charge,
from the Town Council Office, Buckley Library and tourist information
points throughout Flintshire and beyond. New information boards, direction
signs and waymarkers indicate the route.
