Stuart was our first child, born in October 1940. We had six children.

I joined the RWF 20th October 1939 and discharged 19th January 1946. Soon after, we were asked who wanted to go home for Christmas. We all put our hands up! We were then asked who wanted to go home for Christmas and get married. I put my hand up and had to arrange the wedding with my finance, Bessie, pretty quickly. I had to get permission from my parents as I was under 21.

We were married on 23rd December at Chester Registry Office and sepnt our honeymoon at Park Road, Buckley, which was the home of Stanley Bunting, Bessie's uncle.
