Fred was my grandfather. He came to Buckley from Cradley Heath, West Midlands with his brother, Walter in 1912 and worked in the steelworks and then Davison's Brickworks. He had two wives and six children (Dennis Hugh Bernard, Leonard, Ivy (Ellis), Gwen (Davies), Charles and a girl who died in infancy, aged about two, called Florence, born between Dennis and Leonard. Louise was his first wife and the mother of the children. Helen was his second wife.
