This was taken after the site was cleared of buildings and prior to the erection of Southside, Argoed Road in 2006 -7, a development, by Blue Sky Construction Europe Ltd., Neston, of one and two bedroom apartments.

The following is taken from T. W. Pritchard's book "The making of Buckley and District," published 2006. p. 97.

13. Wind Mill Colliery.

Tolson White reported in 1863: "This is a small grant to Mr King, who has sunk 23 yard and found coal 6 feet 8 inches thick, including 2 feet of cannel. I had no opportunity of minutely inspecting this coal, as the engine was removed for repairs; but I believe the discovery of cannel coal in this district an important accession to the value of the minerals."
