Mount Pleasant Colliery Winding Gear"

Mount Pleasant Colliery, Buckley

1962

There reputedly used to be a big block of coal or stone at the bottom of the colliery shaft which was routinely kicked by the miners after a shift as a means of cleaning their boots. One day, the block split revealing a dinosaur's footprint (date unknown). The block was taken away, reputedly by a Cardiff Museum. If anyone knows any more details, please let us know.
