This entry was originally taken from an unknown photograph about which nothing was known except that it was taken in Buckley. It was later found as a post card on the back of which was written "Buckley Carnival Oct 8/19".

The following information was provided by Mr Robert Betney, the son of Robert A. Betney.

Robert A. Betney was born in 1909 and was aged ten in this photo. His father, Alfred Betney, was the manager of the Buckley Coop around 1910 - 1920. It is possible that the photo was taken in the Coop's bakery yard before setting off for the carnival. The date "Oct 8/19" is confusing. Perhaps the family obtained the photo in October, after the carnival in August.

John J. H. Betney was Robert A.'s brother.
