Roger Shone with some of his Cinema Memorabilia"

13 November 1987

The following is taken from an account in The Chester Chronicle.

Roger Shone was brought up in Buckley and remembers attending the Tivoli and Palace Cinemas. As a boy his pocket money went on trips to the pictures. The Tivoli was the town's popular cinema. It had been converted to show films and, with its decorative interior, was a big Saturday night attraction. Many also remember with affection its pocket handkerchief-sized opposition, The Palace Cinema. Roger said: "It became known as the Chicken Run because it was so small."
