The castle is an apprentice piece made by Samuel Jones, Cherry Tree Cottage, Alltami at Lamb's Pottery when he was fifteen. It was given as a present to George Lamb Senior of Lamb's Pottery, Church Road. On George Lamb's death, it was given to Samuel Jones' daughter, Mrs Lilian Chesters.

It was donated to the library by Mr Joseph Chesters, her son, in 1997.
