A newspaper report of 29th April 1898 gives:

CONGREGATIONAL SCHOOLROOM CHILDREN'S CONCERT

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings last two concerts were given in the above school by the Sunday School children, to crowded audiences. Messrs Joseph Griffiths and Jonathan Catherall were the presidents of the concerts. The programme presented was very amusing and interesting, and caused roars of laughter throughout, thanks to Miss thomas and Mr T. Cropper for their excellent training of the children, which was neatly and artistically performed by them. {the acts were then listed}... The performance each evening was a great success, the proceeds going to the funds of the Sunday School.
