Saint Matthew's School Standard Seven"

Saint Matthew's School, Church Road, Buckley

This photo was found in amongst some other family documents and papers in an attic at Woodside Cottages, Drury. Richard Catherall's father, Thomas John (1914 - 1989) purchased both Nos. 1 and 2, Woodside Cottages in 1945/6. Mr Edward Messham and Mrs Bessie Messham (nee Jones) and their son, Cecil, lived in one of the cottages until they had all died, Cecil last in late 2001/early 2002. Bessie died c. 1965.

On the back is written:

14 years old

S.W.A O.H. Grocers. Lane End

Fri 8.9.33

The details refer to Cecil Messham. He was confirmed in 1934.

 

Harold Probert was the Deputy Head.
