In 1933, at Hawarden County School, he passed his School Certificate with Credit in Mathematics, Physics I, and Chemistry.
In July 1934, he had been a pupil there for five years and gained a School Certificate with Credit in: English, French (Written and Oral), Mathematics, Physics I, Chemistry, and Art.
In 1934 - 1935, he attended evening school in Buckley and was awarded The Union of Lancashire and Cheshire Institutes General (Senior) Commercial Course in First Year Book-keeping - Second Class.
In 1935 - 1936, he likewise was awarded Pitman's First Year Shorthand (Theory) - Second Class.
In 1936 - 1937, he similarly was awarded Pitman's First Year Shorthand (60 words per minute) - First Class.
