Wilf Owens died in May 2007 after a short illness, aged 75. Wilf had been a very keen supporter of this archive and attended most of the library sessions. His contribution was a large and valuable one for which we owe him a great debt. He was always ready to help in any way he could and facilitated the loan from the Record Office of his uncle, Wilfred Owens' letters home during WWI. These are now recorded on this archive.

Wilf had been a member of the Merseyside and North Wales Vincent Bikers Club (VBC) and, at his funeral, six members in leather gear accompanied his coffin from the service at the Buckley Cross Methodist Church to the Crematorium. He had trained as a mechanic at Grosvenor Motors, Chester and before he retired he worked for Floods in Queensferry.

By 2007, he had travelled about 330,000 miles on his Vincent Black Shadow over 44 years.
