THE VERY LAST BRICK TO BE MADE IN BUCKLEY AT ONE OF THE BRICKYARDS

These "year" bricks ( 215 x 215 ) were made as a matter of routine at Lane End. This brick was the very last item made at Lane End Brickworks just before it closed. The date was 7th March 2003. The kilns had been closed down and I persuaded my colleague, John Williams, to make the block at around lunch time. We then had to fire it in the small electric kiln. In May 2008, I donated this and two "last" bricks from Catherall's Brickworks to the Flintshire Museum Service.
