Hanson has chosen the Royal Welsh Show as the centrepiece of its Hanson in Wales initiative demonstrating the company's commitment to the country.

 

Hanson offers customers in Wales a huge range of products and services. The company has a turnover here of more than £100 million and employs 700 people making Hanson one of the country's largest employers. From more than 70 locations, covering every county, Hanson produces crushed rock, sand, gravel, asphalt, ready-to-use mortar, recycled aggregates, bricks, clay pavers anda range of concrete blocks and precast drainage products and systems.

 

Hanson Brick produces 42 million bricks and pavers each year at operations at Buckley and Caernarfon where £700,000 has been invested in new packaging equipment. The popular Butterley Jacobean range is produced at Buckley's Lane End factory.

Stuart Millward, Hanson Brick's Clwyd craftsman from the Lane End works, was on hand throughout the exhibition to demonstrate his skills in carving free hand a large dragon from four blocks of Jacobean clay. He also displayed a spectacular carved model of the Prince of Wales' feathers. Visitors were encouraged to try their hand at this traditional craft.
