Buckley-born Joseph Peters, a painting of whom is shown here with his Flintshire cricket cap and book by "Plum" M. Wellum, "History of Cricket", played for Flintshire and then went to Nottingham County. He didn't settle there as his wife preferred Buckley. There was a rhyme in Buckley cricket circles part of which said, "Don't worry, we've got our Joe."
He kept the Prince of Wales pub, in which his daughter, Joan, was born. He at a different time kept the Rose and Thistle.
91.6 George Lewis Diary Part Two: Thursday Oct 1st. 1912 states:
" Joseph Peters started to keep the Prince of Wales Inn, Lane End".
