This photo was taken at a library archive session at the end of April 2008 to which the press was invited. About fifty of Southport's streets had been paved with Charles Davison's bricks, and in the Spring of 2008 the authorities had decided that the majority of these streets had to be re-paved with new non-Buckley replacements due to wear and tear and no replacements being available. There was a campaign by the people of Southport to keep the original Buckley paving but to no avail. The remaining ten or so streets to keep their distinctive Buckley look, would be maintained by the recycled pavers. Ron Millward, soon to be 90, had his photo taken by the press with Paul Davies and a couple of the bricks. The bricks were made at Davison's Ewloe Barn and Old Ewloe works, both of which had closed many years ago.
