JOSEPH HERBERT SHEPHERD 1898 - 1976

Joseph Herbert Shepherd was born on the 28th July 1898 at 2 Knowle View, Daisy Hill Road, Buckley, the eldest of four children of Joseph Kelsall Shepherd, (1873-1949), tile maker and Edith Eleanor Shepherd (nee Connah) (1871 -1956).

In 1925 he married Edith Emma Lloyd, one of 10 children, of 116 Mold Road, Buckley (opposite the Blue Anchor) and they had one daughter, Ruby Shepherd (1926-2004), who was also born at 2 Knowle View.

The Shepherd family always had strong connections with Saint John's United Reformed Church.

Joseph Herbert Shepherd worked for over 50 years for John Summers and Sons of Shotton.

He died at his home, 10 Belmont Crescent, Buckley on 27 December 1976.

He is survived by his Granddaughters Susan Geldard (nee Groves) now of Brize Norton, Oxfordshire and Ceri Williams (nee Groves) of Bryn-Y-Baal and Great Grandchildren: David Lund of Brize Norton and Katrina and Ffion Williams of Bryn-y-Baal.
