The book: Australian Adventures by William H. G. Kingston

The first paragraph:

"Some years ago two travellers, mounted on wiry yet strong looking steeds, were wending their way through a forest in Australia. They were both young and dressed much alike in broad-brimmed pith hats, loose red shirts, corduroy trousers and high boots with spurs."

In 1910, he attained 83 marks and T.J. Bellis was the secretary.

The book was Mill on the Floss by George Eliot.

 

In 1911, he attained 82 marks.

The book was Grenfell of Labrador by James Johnston, F.R.H.S., which opens:

" Of all the influences which go to make a man what he is, heredity and early environment are probably those which count for most."
