In May 2008, work began on a programme of modernisation costing £360,000. The station remained active throughout the upgrading, which included two single storey extentions housing separate male and female lockers, showers and toilets, an office, a drying room, muster bay, a much larger watch room, disabled toilets, a kitchen and a community meeting room. The official opening took place at the end of July 2009, when Dr Brian Gibbons, Assembly Minister for Social Justice and Local Government, cut a ribbon and declared the station back in business. He said: "This refurbishment provides an excellent facility not only to help support the training of firefighters to tackle incidents such as fires and road traffic collisions but also to deliver the diverse education and prevention schemes that operate here in North Wales."
