3. New Year's Ball - text below
Owing to New Year's Day falling on a Sunday, the Ball was held on Monday Jan 2nd. This year the price of admission was reduced from 2/6 to 2/-. There was a very large company present. It seems that this event which for the last few years has not been as popular as it formerly was, when it was the only New Year's Eve dance in the district, is again becoming very popular. There were more present than had been the case for some years. The room had been tastefully decorated for the occasion and looked at its best. Lists of the dances, beautifully engrossed by Mr Walter Hill, were hung up. We are extremely grateful to the M C's, the ladies who were in charge of the refreshments, and the door keepers. The Ball was greatly enjoyed, and we predict that in future it will be the one outstanding event in the district as it formerly was.
