On 2nd June 1906, the Engineers Band won the first prize in the march contest at Chirk and second in the selection contest. The adjudicator, Mr Dobbing from Birkenhead, said that the march contest had been won easliy and the selection contest had been remarkably close between Rhos and Buckley.
