Horn from the first autobus in Buckley"

7 March 2005

Before the introduction of an engine powered bus, 'Nanny' Hughes originally used to convey colliers from Buckley to Llay Main Colliery and Gresford Colliery by horse and cart.

Other transport for colliers involved the use of lorries with benches on the back so that all the haulier had to do was remove the benches then he could carry coal back from the Colliery. When he returned to the Colliery to collect the men he merely put the benches back on the lorry.
