Alderman Dennis Griffiths died on Sunday 2nd January 1972, aged 76. He was in a nursing home in Mold and had been ill for some time. His funeral was held on Wednesday 5th January by the vicar, the Reverend E. Clwyd Jones at Saint Matthew's Church and was attended by many people; he was then cremated at Blacon crematorium. His wife, Mrs Ada Griffiths was also in the nursing home. He was described in the Flintshire Leader of Friday January 7th 1972 as one of the most outstanding personalities in Welsh public life.
