The Post Office in Brunswick Road was owned for many years by Harold Shone and his wife. He used to hold his papers down with his disabled hand and write with the other hand. He retired from the business in the fifties.
Harold was a keen member of the British Legion after the end of the Second World War. The meetings were held in the Ex-Servicemen's Institute in Church Road long before the new British Legion was built in Precinct Way.
