North Wales Bell Ringers Striking Competition

Mr George H. and Mrs Nora Randles were accomplished ringers at Gresford Church in 1976. Buckley was the first tower to win the cup and the shields around the base record Buckley as winning on the following dates: 1976, 1980, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001. The other teams include Mold, Welshpool, Bangor, Ruabon, Hanmer, Forden. Six to eight teams compete each year. An independent judge listens outside each church on an arranged day annually. There is a practice piece and a test piece. The Buckley team have about ten ringers out of a group of 12 to 15.
