This event at the library was to commemorate the registration of the Heritage Centre collection and the library building as an official museum. The county museums officer, Emma Chaplin had worked over many months to ensure that all the strict criteria were met for museum registration. It was awarded full registered status by Resource, the council for museums, archives and libraries. It sets out minimum standards for collection care, management and services to the public. The local studies area had been expanded and a lift installed.
