Phoenix Theatre Company were the first visiting group to perform at the newly-refurbished Hawkesbury Little Theatre. Phoenix have to date (end 2004) returned to the theatre several times to perform there. They have won many awards locally and nationally for their full-length and one-act productions.

Eric Chappell, the playwright, is best known as the creator of Rigsby and co. in TV's situation comedy, Rising Damp.
