Etna Park, Buckley

December 2003

A report dated November 1996 by the Director of Planning and Development and Director of Culture, Leisure and Tourism stated:

ETNA LANDFILL SITE

The former Etna Landfill Site has been recently restored and now forms one of the highest points in Buckley, with extensive views over Cheshire, the Clwydian Hills and the River Dee estuary.

Since completion of waste disposal operations in 1993 the Council has carried out restoration work including topsoiling, grass seeding and tree planting as well as fencing and footpaths works.

The Council's Current Proposals are :-

* To create a local park for a wide range of leisure activities

* To safeguard and enhance the landscape and nature conservation value of the site

* To explain the site's industrial past and wildlife value

* To promote the area as a tourist attraction

* To develop art work and sculpture on site to coplement the Heritage Trail

* To provide access for the disabled along the main paths
