In a public enquiry late 2006, Redrow Homes were finally given permission for 300 dwellings on the site. Up to 100 are earmarked for affordable housing. There will also be an open space, landscaping and woodland habitats. The scheme had been held up partly so that CCW could receive assurances that the new ponds and habitat would be suitable for great crested newts.
