The Tarran sisters and friend"

1920

My Great Grandparents were

William Tarran (1842-1906) and Elizabeth Tarran (1842-1918). They are buried in Bistre Churchyard.

 

Their children were:

 

Thomas (Tom) Tarran who was a Policeman - married Agnes Louisa (died 1939).

 

Mary J. (Polly) Tarran married Walter Jones. According to the 1901 Census, Polly (aged 27) had been born in Buckley and was a cook/domestic. She ran the Wellington Inn, The Square and later became the publican of the Royal Oak, Penyffordd.

Their children were:

William

Elizabeth (Bessie)

Nellie (died 1979)

Thomas (Tom).

 

Catherine (Kitty) Tarran married Edward Peters. She became the publican of the Horse and Jockey, Penymynydd. According to the 1901 Census, Kitty (aged 25) had been born in Buckley and was a housemaid, and later became the publican of the Horse & Jockey, Penymynydd.

Their children were: Frank (1904-1999) my father

Sydney

Dora (1911-1989)

Hilda (1913-1979)

 

Hannah Tarran married William Thomas Jones. According to 1901 Census she lived at 2 Padeswood Road (The Nant Inn) aged 22. She later became the publican of the Nant Inn, Buckley.

Their children were: Janet (1904-1995),

Fred (1906 died in infancy),

Agnes (1909-1922 died aged 13 from a childhood illness),

William (Bill) Thomas (died 1979 aged 67)

Margaret Jane Jones (1915-1973),

Mary (1917-1974),

Elizabeth (Bessie) (1919-2001)

Janet Tarran (1884-1898) age 14 and buried Bistre.

 

The lady on the left-hand side could be Betty Barclay.
