This picture was donated to the library by Joe Chesters. It was painted in 1988 and is oil on canvas. See 2.160 for the photo on which it is based.

 

CAPTION

 

This picture shows an early morning tea break on the Etna Tip (Davison's Top Yard quarry) in 1966. The people in the picture are two of the Buckley Urban District Council refuse collectors and the tip attendant.

 

The models for these people were (left to right) James Williams of Chester Road, Vincent Thornton of Princess Avenue, and Leonard Hayes of Westbourne Crescent.

 

The picture was exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art Summer Exhibition in 1990.
