The large, newer building was formerly a house and shop 53A - a chemist shop - George Peters then James Bentley. Originally it was two shops - a chemist and florist.
Miss Beatrice Catherall's small sweetshop (demolished) stood approximately in the site of the present drive of the house (Number 45), and the house was approached by path along the border of 47, Chester Road.
