26 December 1940
In 1940, very few people had a telephone, so telegrams were the order of the day. At a wedding, it was the duty of the Best Man, Jack Enston in our case, to read out the telegrams. This envelope has survived.
It was sent by Robin's Aunt Eva and children, Joyce, Molly, Joan and Terry Sadler - Uncle Fred was dead. We kept in touch with this branch of the Sadler family, and would often visit them in the summer when we were caravanning in Cardiff.
