Robert Robert's Charabanc"

1930

While Robert Roberts had the chip shop on Daisy Hill, he also ran a bus service or "charabanc" service - to Mold; Chester Hospital; Wrexham Hospital; Llay Main Colliery with colliers - in competition with Crosville, Richardson's and Reggie Jenkinson, both of Buckley! On the run to Chester Infirmary, going down through the Old Warren to Saltney, he used to keep a close eye on the Crosville timetable so that his vehicle was just a step ahead!

Robin's mother used to walk along the side stepping-board to collect the fares.
