The dates on the Silver Jubilee (of King George Vth) clock are: 1910 - 1935.
In September 2007, the Buckley Town Council agreed to spend £5,000 on the glass and metal clock, after an inspection revealed that it was in need of extensive renovation work. Unfortunately, in addition to wear and tear, it had been vandalised over the years - used as a target by youths throwing bottles and cans at it.
On 12th October 2007, the clock was carefully removed from its mounting and lowered to the ground to be taken away for the repairs. The glass would be replaced by a polycarbonare material which is resistant to missile attacks and extreme weather conditions. It was planned that the clock should be back in place by Christmas.
In November 2007, the work was finished, having been carried out by a mechanical restorer, Bob Muirhead.
